Multi-Factor Authentication

We are improving the security of our new Online Banking system by adding secure access codes, a new type of multi-factor authentication.   Over the next several months, we will begin rolling out this feature in a phased approach to all Online Banking customers.

Access codes strengthen the safeguards in place at login by adding steps to verify your identity.  These enhancements benefit your security, and your day-to-day experience will change very little.  Part of this identification process includes recognizing the computer you typically use to access Online Banking.  This information, along with your normal login details, is incorporated into your online identity profile.

If you are prompted for multi-factor authentication, please use the instructions below to login:

  • Enter your Login ID and Password,
  • Choose a secure access code delivery method (Email* or Phone)
  • Once the code is received, enter the 6 digit number and click Continue.

Please Note: If you choose to receive your secure access code by email, please check your Junk Mail folder if the code is not delivered within 15 minutes.

You can read additional details in the PDF below.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Multi-Factor Authentication?

Multi-factor Authentication adds extra layers of online security to prevent unauthorized access to your accounts. We are committed to protecting you from identity theft and fraud.

What does Multi-Factor Authentication involve?

Multi-Factor Authentication consists of a six-digit secure access code delivered to the email address or phone number(s) you entered when you created your online banking profile; you were asked to update your profile information after your first successful login to the new online banking system.

How can I prepare for Multi-Factor Authentication?

When you log into online banking, make sure your online profile information is correct. You can do this from the Account Overview screen within online banking. Click on the User option under the Preferences heading. Update the email address, home/business phone, and mobile phone information of your online profile.

What happens after I enter the secure access code?

After you enter the delivered secure access code, you will be instructed to activate your browser. If you are using a private computer used regularly, select to activate this computer for later use; this will register your computer. If you are using a public computer, select the option to give you one-time access only.

How long should I wait for a secure access code to be delivered?

If you are having the secure access code delivered to a telephone number, it should be delivered in less than three (3) minutes. Please make sure the telephone line is not being used by your computer or by another person. If the line is busy, the automated service tries three (3) times to deliver the secure access code to a phone line that is busy.

If you select to have the secure access code delivered to an email address, it should be delivered in less than ten (10) minutes. Please check your junk email folder if you do not receive the email in this time frame. If you have a program filtering/monitoring the delivery of your email messages, it may prevent the delivery of the secure access code; please select to have the secure access code delivered to a phone number.

Why does the system tell me the secure access code is expired or invalid?

A secure access code is valid for approximately 60 minutes. If you select to have a secure access code delivered to you multiple times using the same channel of delivery, each new secure access code request will disable any previously requested codes.

Am I able to add additional email addresses or phone numbers for secure access delivery?

Yes. First, you will need to have a successful delivery and usage of a secure access code. On the account overview screen, select the Security option from the Preferences heading. Click on the Secure Delivery tab. You can enter three (3) email addresses and three (3) phone numbers.

What if I use different computers to access online banking?

Each time you log in from an unregistered computer, you will be prompted to have a secure access code delivered to your contact information. After you enter the correct Multi-Factor Authentication secure access code, you will be asked to activate your browser. If you select to activate the computer for later use, Multi-Factor Authentication captures a footprint of your computer especially for you. Registering your computer keeps Multi-Factor Authentication from asking you to deliver a secure access code when you access online banking from that same computer.

Can I register more than one computer?

Yes. You can register multiple computers.

What if I share my computer with someone who also has internet banking?  Can we both log in from the same computer?

Yes.  You can use the same computer.  There is no limit to the number of people who can use the same computer to access his/her own internet banking.

I have already registered my computer. When I enter my User ID, internet banking prompts me to have a Multi-Factor Authentication secure access code delivered.  Why?

There are several reasons why this may happen.  Some reasons are:

  • You logged in using a different computer
  • You logged in using a different browser
  • The cookies/cache have been cleared on your computer
  • Your browser blocks or restricts cookies
  • A new version of your browser was installed on your computer
